Camp Kesem is aimed at supporting children with a parental figure who was or has been diagnosed with cancer. We foster a supportive environment with a number of fun events throughout the year, including our main event, which is a summer camp for the kids. Most importantly, everything that we offer is ABSOLUTELY FREE to the families in an effort to support as many families as possible. Our camp is for children ages 6-18, but younger children and their families are welcome to attend our other events throughout the year.
If you would be willing to spread the word throughout your school district or to anyone else you think could benefit from this information, we would be incredibly grateful! The links to our national website and to a video from our chapter can be found in our signature below, and I have attached an interest form for any families looking to get involved to fill out. Alternatively, if you or the families have any questions for us, please send our email information along and don't hesitate to reach out! https://www.campkesem.org/

Hello Parents,
We want to thank all of the families who have already participated in our SchoolStore fundraiser! We are on our way to reaching our goal, but we need everyone’s help to make sure our teachers get the essential tools they need to help our students succeed.
If your family hasn’t participated, there’s still time!
This safe and easy fundraiser is 100% online so there is no face-to-face selling, collecting money, or delivering products. Participation only takes 12 minutes and your child will win fun and exciting prizes. Every student will receive a prize, just for participating. More prizes will be rewarded when goals are reached.
Please help now. It really will make a difference.

Today we received new guidance from the Iowa Department of Public Health and the Iowa Department of Education following a news conference by Governor Reynolds. Under the new guidance students and staff will not have to go into quarantine IF masks are being worn by both individuals during exposure or potential exposure situations. Previous guidance had stated that quarantine was required regardless of masks if an individual was exposed to a person who was positive or potentially positive within six feet for more than fifteen minutes.
The guidance went on to explain examples of when quarantines would still be necessary. When face shields are worn instead of fabric masks exposed individuals would still be required to quarantine. Household close contacts would still need to quarantine. An individual who is symptomatic or who tests positive would still need to quarantine. Additionally, in any setting where masks are not utilized quarantine would still be required. Examples IDPH gave may include chorus, band, lunch, sports, busing, etc.
Since students and staff are required to wear masks during the school day, the latest guidance should result in fewer student quarantines and less time spent contact tracing going forward, provided everyone wears masks when they cannot be six feet apart. Thank you for your patience, support, and understanding as we work through the challenges of this school year. We will do our best to keep you updated as guidance changes.
Have a great day!
