West Monona and West Harrison
Announces its Superintendent Selection
The West Monona and West Harrison Districts are pleased to announce that a contract for Shared Superintendent has been offered to Mr. Marty Fonley.
Mr. Fonley is currently an Interim Assistant Principal at Spencer High School in Spencer, Iowa. He previously was superintendent at Algona Community Schools in
Algona, Iowa for eleven years. He has also spent time as an elementary teacher, a curriculum director, special education coordinator, and assistant high school principal.
There were nineteen applicants for the position. The board interviewed three finalists for the position during the week of March 30, 2020. Mr. Fonley will assume the duties of superintendent beginning July 1, 2020.
McPherson & Jacobson L.L.C. served as consultants in the search process and will continue working with the West Monona and West Harrison Boards of Education and the new superintendent in helping establish performance objectives for Mr. Fonley.
