Mrs. Bellis’ kindergarten class have been working hard while using flexible seating. Flexible seating provides students with a choice, the ability to move safely and without distracting others, and improves health, behavior, and academic performance. The Floor Cushions, Scoop Rockers, Wobble Stools, Donut Ball seats, and Balance Ball Chairs will also help students build their core strength. Flexible seating allows students to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow, and core strength. This burns more calories and increases metabolism, which also helps keep young minds alert and focused. Mrs. Bellis received the flexible seating for her classroom through a mini-grant from the West Monona School Foundation.
